The old clichĂ© a game of two haves summed up Brook’s visit to the unbeaten league leaders. Brook brilliant in the first half however the home blitzed the visitors with Thirty unanswered points in the Second.
Brook took an early lead following a defensive error from the home side. Greg Hale set up the position for Jordy Welsby and Stephen Parkinson to combine and send Aaron Hewitt over for a well taken try the corner.
The home side levelled the scores five minutes later when they worked an overlap for Winger Anthony Yates who scored in the corner.
The Lions took the lead with the game third try in the opening ten minutes.
Consecutive penalties Had Brook defending deep in their own territory and they couldn’t prevent a try from Brendan Gibbins who came on a blockbusting run near the line Richard Frankland added the first of his four conversions.
Within minutes Brook reduced the arrears another forced error gave the visitors an attacking scrum Forward Sean Richardson stood outside the scrum he collected Welsbys pass and powered his way from 20 metres.
Brook hit a purple patch just after the mid way point of the half. Firstly Aaron Hewitt collected a high bomb deep inside his own half and raced away only to be caught close to the line Hewitt quickly played the ball and Tommy Cunningham was hand to touch down in the corner. Minutes later Sean Richardson sent Stephen Parkinson away only to be hauled down again by the home sides superb cover tackling.
Parkinson broke clear again soon after and this time his inside pass found Jordy Welsby who raced under the posts to score with Parkinson converting.
Despite a barrage of late pressure Brook defended brilliantly to go in with an eight point interval lead.
Four minutes into the second half Winger Keiran Redfearn collected a long pass to score in the corner an unconverted try in the corner.
The Lions regained the lead Fifteen minutes into the half with a close range converted try from Hooker Dean Gamble and from there onwards it was all one way traffic from the home side.
Centre Richard Williams crossed for two tries with further scores coming from Matthew Johnson and Daniel Glassell.
Stephen Parkinson was selected as both The Tisdalls Man of the Match and The NL Commercials Players Man of the Match with Darren Forshaw and Jordy Welsby in contention.
