Brook were 10 minutes away from the shock of the Season as they led table toppers Underbank Rangers 16-10. The Holmfirth side showed why they are favourites for promotion though and a late rally that left the home side empty handed following a game in which they deserved to take something from.
Following an even opening quarter Brook took the lead following a Scott Davidson one on one ball steal Brook set up the position for Jordy Welsby put up a huge bomb which the visitors defence could not handle Mark Webster collected the loose ball to send Nathan Goodwin over for a try on his debut with Aaron Hewitt landing a superb touch line conversion.
The lead did not last too long 5 minutes later Sam Rochford jinked his way over the try line with Richard Pogson landing a simple conversion.
Pogson gave the visitors a 10-6 interval lead with two late First Half penalty goals.
Brook levelled the scores 10 minutes into the Second Half Scott Davidson was involved again his great offload under pressure released Nathan Goodwin who scored a well taken try in the corner.
With 15 minutes remaining Brook snatched the lead following an attacking set Jimmy Brown jinked and dummied his way to the try line on the last tackle he was tackled just show short but managed to stretch out his arm to plant the ball down under the posts with Aaron Hewitt converting to give his side a 6-point lead. Jordy Welsby was wide with a drop goal attempt as Brook looked to increase their lead.
Underbank increased the pressure on Brook as they attempted to get back into the game and with 10 minutes remaining the pressure told when Alex Chatterton found a gap to go through and score Pogsonās goal levelled the scores the third lime in the game.
Two minutes later a well taken Drop Goal from Billy Rogers edged Underbank in front.
The home side tried desperately to take something out of the game however with only two minutes an error was seized upon by Craig Williams who raced away to score and seal the game for the visitors. Pogson landed his 5th goal to put the icing on the cake.
Scott Davidson was selected as the Heatrek Man of the Match with Jimmy Brown and Mark Webster sharing the Players Man of the Match.
