Brook are just 80 minutes away from Promotion following one of the most dramatic games ever seen at Boardmans Lane. The home side were trailing 0-14 as the clock ticked passed the 70th minute mark however three converted tries in the final 9 minutes with last coming the final play of the game saw Brook through to a remarkable 12th victory in succession.
Burley Prop Ben Kendall gave the visitors the lead with a close range try on 25 minutes converted by George Woodcock. Defences were completely on top during a cagy first half Brook certainly had chances but failed to complete their sets and the visitors were deservedly held the advantage at half time.
Four minutes into the Second Period Woodcock landed a penalty to extend The Trojans lead and midway through the half the visitors seemed to wrap the game up when Jake Wilson was the first to react to a neat chip through to score under the posts with Woodcock extending the lead to 14 points.
Thornhill superb defence had kept Brook at bay all Afternoon but finally cracked on 71 minutes Jordy Welsby chipped over defence and regained possession to take play into the visitor’s half he found Craig Littler in support who sent Jordan Darwin racing away to score in the corner with Aaron Hewitt landing a superb touch line conversion.
Brook surged up field from the restart and on the last tackle Scott Davidson powered his way over from close range he juggled the ball however the Second Row Man manged to touch down leaving Hewitt with an easy conversion and suddenly it was game on.
Thornhill had the opportunity to put the game to bed a penalty for a high tackle gave them a set of six on Brooks line but superb and determined defence held them out.
The home side regained possession and launched a huge down field kick and following a Thornhill error Brook had an attacking scrum with 60 seconds left on the clock. Ryan Houghton stretched the defence with half brake on the left Brook quickly played the ball and drove towards the posts drawing the Thornhill defenders in and again quickly played the ball for Jordy Welsby who found Greg Hale who stepped his way over to finish in style. Arron Hewitt added the conversion amid the wild scenes of delight.
Scott Davidson was selected as The Heatrek Man of the Match and 16 year old Ryan Forshaw who was drafted in for his debut at the this level taking the players accolade.
